Directed Retreats
are individual retreats where the retreatant meets daily for spiritual direction and typically followed by suggestions for daily prayer (unless the retreatant has chosen just to process other prayer content with the spiritual director). The benefit of a directed retreat is the personalized attention, fruitful silence, and contemplative dimension. While a directed retreat may not be for everyone, it may be right if you desire to withdraw from distraction, to find rest and renewal, to quicken your relationship with the Lord, to prayerfully process upcoming decisions, or just to be with the Beloved. Whether we are a student, young professional, middle aged or elderly or whether we are single, married, or religious, we all need to get way to reconnect at a deeper level with the Lord, especially in our day and age of business, noise, and confusion. Yet, this is nothing new. Scripture tells us that, "The apostles gathered with Jesus and reported all they had done. He said, 'Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while'” (Mk. 6: 30-31). If this is new to you, try it; if this is old, don't take it for granted, and if you are involved in ministry, it's not optional.
